The 12th edition of Groove Awards nomination was held on Tuesday at the Chandaria Center at University Nairobi, Kenya.

The attendants saw big names in the Gospel Music Industry present, with high hopes of landing a nomination or two in the various categories.

Highly regarded Ugandan gospel ministers Levixone and Coopy Bly were announced as official nominees to this years edition.

Levixone was nominated for “Eastern and Central Africa Artist of the year award” while Coopy Bly’s collabo, ‘Paza Sauti’ with TPK Sons and DjSadic was nominated for “Ragga/Reggae song of the year Award”

Groove Awards is Kenya’s premier gospel music awards ceremony whose main vision is to promote, expose and celebrate gospel talent in Kenya and across Africa.

Since its inception in 2004, over 1,000 artists/groups have been nominated and 240 Groove statuettes presented to Gospel musicians in Kenya and East African region.

2016 Nominations 

Wilson Bugembe and Coopy Bly were among the country’s nominated acts for the ‘East and Central African Artist of the year award’, however they were unable to make it to the top list of winners.

Levixone’s hit collaboration with SOC, Mukutu was nominated for the ‘Afro-Pop Song of the year award, but saw no victory.

For the Reggae or Ragga Song of the year award, we had Christo Fabulous nominated with Mr. Googz for their single ‘Calling’ .
