The body of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, who was shot dead on Friday has been driven from his home in Kulambiro to Rubaga Cathedral for mass, Monday morning.
Present at Rubaga Cathedral for the 10 am service is the widow and orphans of the late, several dignitaries from the state government, Church, Police and the army.
The service will be lead by The Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga. The late will then be taken to his ancestral home in Lwengo district.
On Sunday, the widow and orphans of the late AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi attended the Requiem mass, which took place at St. Andrew’s Church in Ntinda.
President Museveni used his speech during the vigil to commit to helping Kaweesi’s family, body guard and driver.
He emphasized CCTV camera installation in the city and its suburbs, claiming that his government had long postponed the program because of public servants’ outrageous demands of salaries.
“Therefore, these public servants are responsible for the killing of people (the ones killed by run-away boda bodas)….No one should stand in the way of CCTV cameras, whatever happens they must be bought, my people are now fearing.” He said in part.
“There are clues leading to these murders, but security is also infiltrated by criminals, the intimidate or kill witnesses,” He added. “If you see someone following you suspiciously and you have the capacity to engage him, stop and sort him out.
According to Mr Gilbert Guma, a security expert, the unknown gun-men were trained killers who had intelligence on the deceased’s routine movements and the activities or movements of other people on the road.
According to eyewitnesses and residents near the crime scene, the shooting went on for several minutes after which the killers calmly walked up to the vehicle, opened the car doors to confirm that all occupants were dead, the Daily Monitor reports.
“They must have studied their escape routes well. They must have established the kind of weapons Kaweesi and his guards had for them to decide whether to use guns with better reliability or shoot from a point that gave them advantage.” Mr Gilbert Guma said.
