In a bid to promote healthy marriages, over 50 married street evangelists in Kampala and its suburbs are expected to gather at Botanical Gardens in Entebbe on Saturday, 31 August, 2019.
Apostle Kirabo Joseph, the organizer of the marriage retreat and member of the Association of Born-again Street and Market Evangelists Uganda said that the initiative will offer preachers tips for successful marriages and help them rekindle love.
The retreat will be conducted under a theme inspired by 1st Timothy 3:2.
“Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach.”
“We came to realize that there are some preachers who after wedding, announce intentions of divorce due to the difficulties they face in marriage. For some, this happens after a few months, for others, it happens after a year or two,” Apostle Kirabo Joseph said.
“We have encouraged every preacher to attend the retreat with his wife. We want to use this time to motivate each other and play some games. We want to share with them ways how they can balance preaching the gospel and marriage,” he said.
“We also want to encourage them to start income generating projects. It’s possible for one to preach, as they manage businesses where they get money to sustain their families,” he added.
The event will also be used as a platform to usher in and equip new preachers who have come on board as street evangelists.
The panel of speakers will include Evangelist Kiggundu John, Evangelist Nicholas Tindyebwa, Evangelist Kizito Frank and others.
Apostle Kirabo Joseph appealed for support from the Christian fraternity saying their budget for this retreat is estimated at Ush. 1,500,000/= (About $414)
