As debate continues to mount in the city over the just concluded presidential elections in which incumbent President Yoweri Museveni won a fifth term, extending his 30 years in office, the last thing that fans to renowned gospel artist Robinsan Hairwe expected was a campaign flyer coming through from his facebook page.

Many people would anticipate that as a gospel musician, publically engaging and much worse endorsing one political party in favor of another could end up derogating one’s ministry and career.

“Article 7 of the 1995 Constitution provides that Uganda shall not adopt a state religion. The simple meaning is that religion and state shall be separate and that nobody should misuse religion in politics and governance of the state. Religion is basically “the belief in and worship of God”. It is a personal affair and not a state matter.” stated lawyer , former Cabinet minister and Member of Parliament for Otuke County Daniel Omara Atubo.

“The role church leaders should play in politics and governance of the state should be moral, ethical, prayful, educative, uniting, reconciliatory and non-partisan. They should be the voice of the voiceless, the weak and the oppressed,”

After posting this campaign poster of president Museveni with an added caption, a number of his supporters raised a lot of concern urging that he should keep preaching the gospel, not politics. “Just chill politics and lets focus on God brother,” one of his fans wrote

The simple life hit maker responded to a few comments saying, “I respect your opinion sir but please get me right. I am not celebrating any victory here. I am simply asking ‘ani a wakana??? mpola mpola ssebo’,”

Well, to add to this Robinsan did deactivate this account temporarily over this uproar.
