Israeli scientists have discovered evidence for an event recorded in the bible that took place thousands of years ago.
University researchers in Israel say they now have proof that a miraculous event recorded in the Book of Joshua had undoubtedly occurred.
According to scripture, the sun stood still, enabling Joshua to lead the Israelites to victory in the Land of Israel. Israeli scientists have concluded, based on new research, that the event indeed took place, and they were even able to verify the exact date and time .
The multi-displinary team of Israeli researchers are saying that this account is unique, because even though other ancient stories refer to the sun stopping, this is the only one that also mentions the moon, which has led them to believe that the event was a solar eclipse.
Solar eclipses happen when the moon blocks sunlight by passing between the sun and earth. By applying data from NASA, the researchers discovered that one such eclipse occurred in the region between the years 1500 and 1000 BCE.
They say “the evidence is clear” – Joshua led the Israelites to victory on the 30th of October in the year 1207 BCE. And because science is so exact, we know it happened precisely at 4:28 in the afternoon.
