Celebrated gospel musician Israel Mbonyicyambu, better known as Israel Mbonyi, arrived in Kampala, Uganda, on 21st August, 2024 where he received a warm welcome ahead of his highly anticipated concert on 23rd August, 2024.
The 32-year-old Rwanda-based minister of the gospel arrived at Entebbe International Airport with his management team and band.
Known for songs including ‘Nina Siri’ which garnered over 58 million views on Youtube, he will headline the highly anticipated live concert at Millenial Grounds (Former KCCA Grounds) on 23rd August, 2024 and at Mbarara University Inn grounds on 25th August, 2024.
His visit to Uganda, comes days since his successful tour to Kenya where he held a concert.
The Standard Newspaper – Kenya states that Mbonyi’s decision to sing in other languages including English and Swahili has expanded his ministry’s reach. He recently staged concerts in several countries including Belgium in western Europe where the demand for tickets surpassed expectations, forcing organisers to move the event from Birmingham Palace to a bigger venue, Dome Eventhall.
“I wanted to expand my territory and enlarge the ministry to reach more people out of Rwanda. I can’t keep things local,” he was quoted as saying by the newspaper. “I will keep singing in my mother tongue but want more people to get the message in my songs.”
In the recent past, his music received nominations from African Entertainment Awards USA and recognition from the Groove Awards Rwanda and Isango Na Muzika Awards.
