As 2015 came to a close, people around the world gathered together so as to usher in 2016 with rituals like fireworks, countdowns, resolutions and cross over prayers.
For all presidential candidates who crossed over with their general campaigns across the country still due, majority gathered at different Prayer grounds seeking the favor of God ahead of the forth coming presidential polls.
Bishop Kiganda together will his wife Pr. Cindy Kiganda hosted the 10th National Prayer Day and Night at Nakivubo Stadium.
Joined by His excellency Yoweri K. Museveni, this year’s theme was taken from 1st Chronicles 4:10.[Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.”]
Other guests at the prayer session included Ap. Michael Kimuli, Bishop Michael Kyazze, Bishop Henry Minani, Pastor Jacque Green, Apostle Arnold Muwonge from the UK among others.
In his speech to thousands of congregants, the president said that if there is any right the Pentecostal church hasn’t received , he should be informed.
He said that the Born again should have equal rights like any other religious denomination in the country including wedding of couples.
The president said that in the coming years as the country’s budget improves, the state will give support to churches and faiths. “This is because they have helped the state to police the minds of its people instead of just depending on policing of the body,” he further emphasized
The worshipers later on prayed for the president.
On the other hand, FDC presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye joined congregants in at All Saints Masindi to present his prayer requests before the Lord.
He was summoned for special prayers at the altar as soon as it clocked midnight.
“Thank you Christians of All Saints Church Masindi for the time we had to start the new year (2016) praying together, it is a special year and we have to thank God for being part of it. May God bless you all, happy new year.” stated Dr. Besigye later in his remarks
