Kumi Woman MP, Monica Amoding has told Journalists she will spend her portion of the 13 billion Shillings Members of Parliament are to receive for age limit consultations on Charity projects within her constituency.
The outspoken MP opposed to the private members bill scrapping the age limit cap from the Constitution, is among several who have during an interview with the Monitor newspaper expressed willingness to cash out the 29 million allocated to each lawmaker, in order to revert it to “projects chosen by their voters.”
“I have talked to my colleagues and we have agreed that we shall take the money because it is coming from Parliament, not the NRM,” Kabarole Woman MP, Ms Sylvia Rwabwogo told the newspaper on Tuesday.
“Once the money comes in, I will declare it and then take it to the people in Bududa District for the refurbishment of the x–ray unit, repair scan and the ambulance,” Mr John Baptist Nambeshe (Manjiya County) said. “I will not spend it on consultations because I have always been consulting my constituents.”
This development comes days since Amoding took to social media to assure Ugandans of her commitment to continue fighting against lifting presidential age limit. “We Shall not go to the bush because there are no more Bushes but we shall assert our rights as a generation,” she said.
“A vision does not have to be accomplished by the vision bearer, it can be carried forth by the next generation. This is what the bush hereos of Uganda do not want to accept,” he stated. “Our Help comes from a far away Country (Isaiah .10:1-4) …Our Help comes from the Lord,” she added.
