From the start of an astonishing music ministry at Rubaga Miracle Centre, to over 5 years as a solo artist, Jackie Senyonjo is a legend – at least in the minds of many of her peers. In her own mind, she’s something else altogether. She’s something – someone – far more personal than a legend.

We have all witnessed her being excoriated in the tabloids. She is most often silent-not responding to their critics. How has Jackie been able to handle all forged rumors and media pressure, upfront her husband, children and the church that observes what happen?

“Very true, because I woke up one day and decided to not only sing in the shower and kitchen, I became national; people are bound to dig up on your private life.  It’s unavoidable. That’s what we have learnt to live with. The kids know everything and I must have an answer for every question, as God helps me,” she said, speaking to UG Christian News

Jackie Senyonjo says that balancing marriage and ministry hasn’t been easy however; the couple continues to grow together, as their love for each other increases, perfected by God.

“Balancing marriage and ministry all depends on the relationship you have with your hubby [husband] and how much he understands your ministry. Luckily for me, I got busier after I had my three kids,” she furthermore emphasizes, “I had a very ‘mulokole’ (born again) maid who cared for my kids when I went for ministry,”

“When the kids ask, I explain where I’ve been. They see my videos and I make sure they understand how important it was for me to be away sometimes,”

Jackie urges that for tight schedules that might keep any wife away from home for some time, the biggest challenge comes with the men.

“The men on the other side cause the biggest challenge but, like I said we had to agree most of the times and since my gift had made room for me, even international doors, I contributed to the family income. ‘Sibyangu’ (it is not easy). Its determination, prayer and consistence,”

Although she speaks with deep conviction, Jackie has a ready laugh. The conversation turns as she considers the discernment it takes to walk the line between being public with your personal testimony and protecting your family’s privacy.

Since settling down to a solo music career, her songs have themes that are not only personal, they’re extremely broad.

Whether she’s talking about reliance on God in the midst of hardship, troubled marriages and relationships, the hope of heaven, romance, praise and worship or prayer, she’s always an open season on pretty much anything and everything.
