Angella Katatumba is a singer, humanitarian and daughter of renowned businessman and Ugandan consul to Pakistan, Bonney Katatumba.
During her interview with the Independent Magazine earlier this week, the twin and only daughter among a family of eight children revealed that she doesn’t get along with most women because they love to gossip a lot.
“Maybe because I grew up with boys.” She wondered.
Although gossip is a big part of everyday life now, Angella says it is a trait she expresses strong disapproval for.
Commentators have noted that Christian women are just as good at gossiping as non-Christians. Those who listen to gossip are just as engaged as those who are spreading it, for if there is no audience, there will be no one to tell.
Known for her efforts towards alleviating suffering of certain groups, especially patients at Uganda’s main referral hospital, Mulago, Angella Katatumba says anything charitable markets and moves itself.
After donating Shs 10 Million to Mulago hospital which was used to procure phototherapy machines and a syringe pump for the Special Care Unit, the singer was three weeks later invited by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to attend the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, Turkey.”
“It was a great opportunity where I mingled with over 32 presidents and other dignitaries.”
What triggered Angella’s heart to Charity? “Initially I wasn’t interested in charity but when I checked the internet about the Gulu situation, what I found was more than imaginable. I was able to compose and record a theme song for the Gulu walk in just four days titled ‘For you Gulu’,” Katatumba told the Independent Magazine.
