Amos Masaba Wekesa (R), father of 3 and CEO one of the largest tourist operations in Uganda hands a couple a voucher for a fully paid trip to some of his destination sites. This was at Garden City, Kampala during the Ref Sofa Sessions.

Popular Christian entrepreneur Amos Masaba Wekesa, founder of one of the largest tourist operations in East Africa (EA); Great Lakes Safaris and Uganda Lodges Limited says the people he tries to avoid are those that try to discourage his spirit.

He says in life, try to work with as many people as possible, and try not to think everyone is out there trying to get you.

He is quick to add that almost everybody is battling with their different wars, and its wrong thinking you are the victim all the time.

All to often, a story is told of a frog trying to climb a tree, all the other frogs were calling him out and yelling that this is impossible for a frog to do, the frog kept on climbing and approached the top of the tree, it didn’t listen to them because it was deaf. The important lesson from this tale still relevant today is to always give a deaf ear to discouraging people.

“A discouraged spirit kills innovation, hope and can send you into depression.” Wekesa, who also doubles as a motivational speaker says.

“God created us to work with fellow human beings otherwise, you would be the only human on earth.” He notes. “Thinking that everyone is out there IS trying to get you all the time will sink you deep and its the worst form of brain use.”

“Am not saying relax everybody wishes you well, people will always find a reason for disliking you especially those that don’t like themselves. They will dislike you for your height, age, hair, success, principles, noise, lips even air-brows….so don’t stress. Some people will dislike you but will have ideas that you need…..those I find ways of dealing with them.” He says.

Wekesa shared this message recently with his social media audience that is over 11,000. The happily married father of 3 has made millions and become one of the go-to Ugandan tour guides with a company providing 180 jobs to the local economy.

Wekesa’s success story of turning from a smuggler to a billionaire safari king has over years attracted both national and international media, thus introducing him to clients across the world ready to pay prolifically to experience the splendor of Uganda.

“Some assume am so successful and they hate that. Yes, I also struggle with many in my head, but I don’t lose my focus Bwana.” He further states.
