I had a severe heart complication right from Primary Four (4). It was a condition doctors failed to understand. On several occasions, my body turned yellow with severe swellings.
I was put on medication but no one could vividly explain the heart defect was battling. By that time, Mulago referral hospital didn’t have the cardiac care medical equipment it has today. My father was forced to take me to the village where I stayed with my grannie. He had run out of options.
Not so long after, my grannie resorted to shines for help however, every native doctor presented a story that contradicted the other’s. The situation was growing worse. I was once rushed to Kitovu hospital when symptoms of haemoptysis surfaced. I was admitted for about 3 months. They later discharged me insisting they had failed to stabilize my condition. We do not know what she is suffering from, they would say.
I was then referred to Masaka hospital. One of the doctors at this institution who had studied with my auntie recommended I be transferred to Mulago referral hospital. My grannie packed my stuff and we left.
A report from Mulago showed that there was an abnormal accumulation of fluid in my heart (Pericardial effusion.) Everyone’s heart has a polythene-like covering, mine was full of water. They told me fluid accumulation leads to an increased intrapericardial pressure which would cause my heart to burst. They said they had received several similar cases most of which resulted to death.
I was immediately prepared for surgery. I spent up to three days in the theater, unconscious but on oxygen. Later transferred to another room for intensive care, this is where balokole found me and I eventually gave my life to Christ. I learnt that the surgeons left a path where a pipe would be inserted to excrete any excess water. I was later discharged and recommended a lot of tablets, taking up to 12 different drugs each day.
I took a lot of tablets till senior one when I joined church, Light the World Church – Nansana. During one Thursday service, that is when my transformation begun. Pr Bugembe had preached under a sermon title; “There is another side of life.”
I often came back to the same church after receiving permission from the school administration. One day I showed up to the church with all medical forms and met the pastor, I told him enough was enough. I was tired of swallowing all those tablets.
During one worship night meeting the Church organised – I was now in my first year at university – Pr John Bunjo came and testified that God had healed him of a heart complication.
As the meeting went one, I saw a hand with a clean cloth wipe across my heart twice, I felt new. I knew I had received my healing. When I went back home, I told my family about my encounter, they laughed it off but later, I got some money and returned to the heart institute for medical examination. They did not find any water in my heart. The enemy wanted to still my testimony in-between as I gave up on taking drugs believing God for my complete restoration by faith.
It is now nine years singe I stopped taking those tablets. I have never felt any complications. I actually now go to Mulago hospital and pray for sick people. I’m working at Nakasero Hospital and move in and out to share this testimony.
Things are not hard for God. If God can enter into a heart without operation, reassemble veins and dry up the water, I don’t know how he did it, but he did. What is hard for Him? God can touch your situation.
