Genesis 1:26
” And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
God clearly stipulates as to why He made man in His image.
The man ( speaking of both female and male) was given God’s image and likeness for the purpose of having dominion on the earth.
The authority of man with which to rule the earth did lie in the image in which he was created.
Creation would see God in Adam and submit to him since He was the only creature that looked like God. I could say Adam was God’s duplicate walking the earth then.
This image was encapsulated in the life of God which He breathed into Adam at formation (Gen 2:7).
The kingdom of God has its headquarter in heaven and it’s where God sits.
God puts man on the earth as His representative to extend the kingdom of heaven on the earth.
To-date, God’s original plan has not changed. He wants heaven on the earth.
We see it when Jesus taught His disciple to pray.
Luke 11:2
“And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.”
Our prayers and plannings therefore should be driven by kingdom agendas. Nothing brings down God on the scene of life so fast like praying His heart.
The arrival of the Holy Spirit signaled the entry of Gods’ Kingdom.
“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost”. Rom 14:17.
So the Kingdom of God exist in the realm of the Holy Spirit. It’s why Jesus said the Kingdom doesn’t come by observation or sight but it’s within you ( Luke 17:20-21).
Jesus the second Adam came to continue from where the first Adam left off.
God’s original intention and purpose for man has never changed.
“…….much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” Rom 5:17.
We are here to rule and reign on God’s behalf. To bring heaven down in every place he has planted us.
We shall delve deeper into what the kingdom of God entails in the subsequent blog.
Stay blessed and favored.
