Well known gospel musician and sound engineer JohnMarie (real name Ssengendo Johnmary) on Friday made a solemn vow to love and to cherish his long time fiancée, Jackie.

The ‘Nsiima’ star made the vows at a marvelous wedding ceremony hugely attended by friends, family and fellow artistes at University Community Fellowship (UCF) in Kampala.

The wedding ceremony was presided over by Pastor Micah Rwothumio. Thereafter, the newlyweds led their guests to Skyz hotel for a colorful late-evening celebration.

Speaking to Uganda Christian News, JohnMarie said that he met Jackie at Gospel Evolution music show in 2017. The two shared contacts thereafter.

“We often chatted and called each other every night, and it’s from there that I grew to want to know more about her,” JohnMarie said.

Later that year, JohnMarie asked Jackie out and she later accepted to be his fiancé.

“My single life and ministry has been a challenge especially due to the fact that I never acknowledged her in all my interviews or even online for the last 3 years till two months back. She has been fine with it, she believed in me regardless of whether I put her out there and this helped me to grow more into loving her,” JohnMarie said.

When the world thought he was single, JohnMarie says Jackie was always there to “support” him in the background.

“I loved her and my goal was to get to this day. I am glad today I got to marry my best-friend, a helper that understands me,” he said.

JohnMarie explained that Jackie is an accountant and that she isn’t “the limelight kind of person.”

JohnMarie testified to the goodness of the Lord and the financial provision towards the wedding during the interview.

“I have aligned my life to (God’s) will that His plans may be accomplished in me. The Bible says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you…” In this, I learn that the one who plans my life cannot harm me, so I trust in Him,” he said.

The musician’s message to everyone that’s single and hopes to marry some-one eventually is to “put your faith in God.”

“Some take marriage as captivity but please make friendship with your partner first. For the men, if you have met someone please don’t wait to get to 30 or 40 years. Take her to the altar and seal it. This advice also goes out to John Kay, my manager,” JohnMarie said, with a smile.

“Today with so much happiness I want to thank everyone who has stood with me in this journey. It’s a sign of love when people stand with you and we still need support spiritually, don’t cease praying for us so that our marriage blossoms,” he concluded.
