Preaching during a lunch hour fellowship at Christianity Focus Centre in Mengo, Kisenyi on Monday, Bishop David Livingstone Kiganda has told congregants that for God to restore one to a place of dominion, He will always start with what one has.

Under the sermon title “The ten steps into your restoration season,” Bishop Kiganda revealed that when Israel was captured and in total oppression and despair for 7 years, the angle of the Lord appeared to Gideon, who had at once been described as a mighty man of valor.

“Gideon was one of the mighty men talked about in the bible. But after sometime, we forgot who he was. It was God that reminded him that he was a mighty man of valor.” Bishop Kiganda said.

He then quoted Judges 6:12 which says; When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.

“Gideon, the person being called “mighty warrior” was actually in hiding from the Midianites. He threshed his wheat in a winepress. Can you picture this? Here’s Gideon, hiding from the Midianites. And suddenly, this stranger appears and greets him. It appears at this point that Gideon had no clue the angle was referring to him. He himself was in hiding, and at the same time hiding his harvest.” He Said.

“The enemy can put you in a position where you forget who you are. Much as he kept on referring to the past and all its lost battles, God kept reminding Gideon who he was – a mighty man of strength.

Judges 6:13 – Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

“The angle of the Lord did not come to add him more strength, but to remind him of the strength had,” The Bishop added. “Gideon should already have delivered Israel, only if he knew the strength he had. But the prevailing circumstances at that time put him so low that he forgot the mighty God had bestowed upon him.”

Kiganda encouraged the congregants telling them not to forget how strong they are through Christ.

Identify and put your strength to practice, he said.

“There is a lot of untapped strength put to reserve. We cry over what we do not have, yet we have not maximized what we have. We pray, worry and at times trek long distances for what we do not have, yet have not used what we already have within our reach.”

“Everyone of you here is an expert strong at something. God is a good compensator. If he does not create you good at this, you will be good at the other. You should ask God where your strength is. Many are surviving because if their talent. Your talent will take you places.” He said.

Bishop Kiganda also used Judges 6:14 which says; The LORD turned to him [Gideon] and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” to urge that our strength will benefit the nation, families just like Gideon’s strength would be used to save Israel.

“Go in the strength resident in you. It takes identifying the power, or strength in you..and then utilizing it to produce results and change in your life and the lives of the people around you. Your strength could be the never identified or utilized skill, talent or information,” He said. “What is going to change your life is not knowing what to do, but doing what you know.” He stated.
