In 2018, Ugandan mother Cecilia, was abandoned by her husband when he found out that she had recommitted her life to Jesus Christ.

More than two years later, Cecilia and her children are doing well.

This is according to The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM), an international nonprofit organization whose mission is to defend the human rights of persecuted Christians.

VOM said on Thursday that her 17-year-old son completed metal fabrication training at a vocational school, and her younger children are yet to return in school, catching up after missing years of school for lack of finances (though, just like children around the world, they were out during COVID-19 lockdowns).

“Life is much better these days, as there is very little to struggle with,” Cecilia told VOM. “Sleep is much longer and more peaceful than it used to be.”

She credits her current state of joy to the Lord, who she urges never abandoned her.

Though her life has been difficult, Cecilia believes that without the Lord it would have been much harder.
