The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Janet K. Museveni says up till now Uganda has not registered any Covid-19 related deaths because “we chose to seek Him as a nation, looking to Him for our salvation.”
Mrs. Museveni said God is never uncertain about the future or ignorant about what is happening in the world today.
She urged that all the new challenges the country faces will “surely be taken care of only if we continue to pray and seek His face for solutions.”
“He [God] honored our prayers and He has saved us I believe and He will continue to clarify it to us and establish the day when all the evidence will confirm that it is so,” she said in a release on Thursday.
Mrs. Museveni thanked among others Church leaders, mothers and the “young army of intercessors” for responding positively to her call for prayer and fasting amid the pandemic.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Uganda stand at 74, with 46 recoveries, as of 24 April, 2020.
“Uganda has not lost even one person in the country to COVID-19 and it is not because we are better than others, it is not because we have done what others did not do but God is faithful to His word when He says as He did in Jeremiah 29:13, “And you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart,”” she said.
“It is amazing that the Corona Virus which other nations seemed to think would decimate our population and destroy the African Continent as we know it, instead it has brought back that compassionate heart typical of the African people, and it has again made us our “brother’s keeper” as God would have us be,” she added, commending various individuals and companies for generously contributing towards the Covid-19 task force.
Last month President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni declared a National Day of Prayer against the coronavirus pandemic, saying that prayers bring forth results.
“I believe in God because of my experience, I believe that there is God and I have given that testimony even in the books I have written. I have seen in my life that there are things not done by me, but another power- God,” said President Yoweri Museveni then.
