A man who practiced witchcraft for over 50 years in Iganga district, located in the eastern region of Uganda, has repented and received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and savior.
Identified as Ssalongo Lubega, the new convert took a public stand for Jesus Sunday and shared his testimony during a Church service, graced by Pastor Alex Mutagubya of The City Church – Luzira.
Ssalongo Lubega said that practicing witchcraft led only to emptiness, and frustration.
“I have been a Witch doctor of over 50 years. I was heavily laden by my terrible condition,” he said during the service, which also led to the launch of The City Church – Iganga.
In his speech, Lubega expressed a desire to become a minister of the Gospel.
“Whatever I was doing was wrong. I was being used to do terrible things. Today, I have made the decision never to return to the practice of witchcraft,” he continued.
Lubega said he had burnt all his personal fetiches related to the practice of witchcraft. He further explained that his wife was concerned about his decision to leave witchcraft since it was their only source of livelihood.
Pastor Pastor Alex Mutagubya quoted 1 Peter 5:8, encouraging the new convert to be on guard and be alert. He introduced Ssalongo Lubega the to the Holy Spirit, who he emphasised can produce Christ-like character in a life of a believer.
