Let’s say you’ve just heard a REALLY juicy rumor about someone you know. It may not be true, but it’s too good to keep to yourself. Your first instinct is to hop online and IM it to all your friends.
If everybody else is gossiping or spreading rumors, you might feel you have to do the same thing in order to fit in. Author and Executive director of the Ghetto President reality Tv show Barbie Kyagulanyi Itungo says that it saddens her that we look at the speck in other people’s eyes before we clean our own.
The passionate advocate for girls has taken to social media wisdom on finding something more suitable to do than sit around to “talk, talk en talk!”
“We girls talk, talk en talk! We talk about anything and 90% of what we spend our time talking about is none of our business! Hmmm sad yea? We chat about stuff that’s not constructive and most times we discuss what our “friends” are failing at, their current dilema, the unfortunate instances and every negative thing happening in their lives.” She says
Barbie says, “If anything positive comes up, we are quick to mention how it will fail soon! It saddens me that we look at the speck in other people’s eyes before we clean our own,”
In April 2016, Barbra kyagulanyi, wife to singer Bobi Wine come up with a new project to help the helpless teen mothers in Uganda through an organization she has called “Caring Hearts”.
In this new project, she will be offering assistance by giving material things and moral assistance to the young mothers of this Nation.
“Why don’t we find something sensible to do?” she asked “Ok if we are too lazy to clean our bathrooms or mop under our beds; if we cant destroy spider cobwebs in the corners of our sitting rooms or clean those smelly dirty sofas which our babies have turned into potties, lets watch soaps on Spark TV or watch my husband’s music videos collection,”
She says that ladies need to meet and learn new stuff from each other. “At least we should share information on weight loss and contraceptives, skin care etc”
Don’t fight fire with fire. Though it may be tempting to fight the rumor with a different rumor, you should take the high road and not fall into the low-life business of spreading rumors.
