KAMPALA – The First Lady and minister of education and sports, Mrs Janet Museveni has asked the Holy Spirit to convict the body of Christ of sin, and the judgment to come.

She made this prayer on 16th May, 2019 at Hotel Africana in Kampala as Ugandans joined the rest of the world to celebrate 71 years since Israel’s founding.

The event was graced by several dignitaries including the deputy ambassador of Israel to Uganda David Eyal. Others present were government officials and evangelists from Uganda, Israel and USA.

“As Christians, we have a unique relationship with Israel because of our faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but most of all, because of the head of our Church – Jesus Christ.

“Israel seeks peace in the world and we take comfort in your word, which assures us that you will never abandon Israel and that in the end, you, Lord, will save them. We pray for your Holy Spirit to convict us of sin, righteousness and the judgment to come, that we will work for truth and forgiveness in the Lord Jesus,” the First Lady said in her prayer.

Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, has always been significant to Christians because of the places there where Jesus ministered and, most importantly, where he died and rose again.

In Genesis 12:3, when God made the covenant with Abraham, He spoke the following, “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Christian leaders believe God was not only referring to Abraham as an individual, He was also referring to Abraham’s descendants, which are the Jews.

Mrs Museveni said it was in fulfillment of God’s command to pray for the chosen people and for their piece.

She also prayed against violence and fear as well as for the Jewish and Arab believers in Jerusalem to come together and love one another.
