Worship leader and Pastor Justine Nabbosa has encouraged Christians to keep their focus firmly on God during the coronavirus quarantine.
In an update on Tuesday, Nabbosa offered people hope as they deal with the global spread of the virus, noting that they should not abandon spiritual growth practices or undermine guidelines issued by government.
Pastor Justine Nabbosa stated that the pandemic offers valuable lessons to Christians who never spare time to read the bible in person, but simply wait for their pastors to ‘feed’ them.
“What God requires of you is not just the church you fellowship with every Sunday. He requires you to worship Him in truth and in the spirit no matter the place,” she said, quoting Matthew 18:20.
Nabbosa encouraged family Bible reading and devotions, adding that believers should see the nationwide lock-down as an opportunity for family members to grow closer to each other and Christ as now they have more time to spend together.
“It is time to display maturity in the Word of God, [especially] now that you don’t have your pastor close or your prayer partner or your fellow choir members, but yet still can pray by yourself, study the word, even give your tithe and offering where no one is seeing or clapping or even laying hands on you,” she said.
“It is time for self evaluation. Are you actually growing in the spirit or your church is just exciting you… the teachers (our pastors) have been doing a good job teaching us and praying for us, now its time to put in practice what has been taught to us all these years. The good news is, after examination, there is always a promotion. I want to encourage you, your life will take a different turn by the end of this quarantine,” she added.
“Don’t take those prayers lightly with your little children in your house, invite the spirit of God, He will be right there with you. To Pastors, [this] is also a test for us, to stop spoon feeding people but give them the right and true word of God. This is what sustains them in our absence and in times such as these,” she concluded.
