Well know gospel musician Betty Nakibuuka Ssenyonjo has encouraged Christians not to yield to fear in times like these, adding that panic and pessimism should be alien emotions to believers whose Lord has promised “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Following the presidential directive on religious gatherings, many homes have now become ‘churches’ of their own, with Ugandans worshiping in their living rooms or online, in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Betty Nakibuuka emphasized that Jesus is the only one who is completely reliable and by our side through it all. The legendary gospel icon and mother to Baby Gloria urged that the body of Christ should determine never to be idle, thus use the quarantine period to draw closer to God.

“Use this time to move to the next level. Let this be a period of fervent prayer, fasting and bible reading,” she said. ” Let it be a period of seeking God more than we have ever done before.”

Betty Nakibuuka stated that soon after Churches were ordered to close, she embarked on 7 days of fasting and prayer.

“Allow God to speak to you during this time. Allow Him to instruct you on what you should do. Somewhere inside all of us is power, but we need to steer ourselves up. We need to use this time to identify ourselves and know who we are. We need to let out our spiritual gifts,” she said.

She explained that never before has it been more critical for Christians to live by the values that define them as a family.

She quoted Ecclesiastes 9:10 which says, ‘Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, for in Sheol, where you are going, there is no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.’

“Jesus used His time well. When He came, He had a mission, He did not have time to waste. He effectively utilized His time while on earth and fully accomplished his mission. Whatever was prophesied about Him came to pass,” she said. “I encourage us not to waste time. Let us fully maximize the time God has given us in life.”

Nakibuuka urged listeners to return to their “first love” for the Lord.

“Let us go back to our first love for God. Go back to that place where you used to serve God with your entire life and heart. God wants us to serve Him more than we have done before,” she said.

She spoke of seasons of divine visitation, quoting in Genesis 18:1-5, where Abraham received a visit from God, and that very day, the barrenness that had been with him for years disappeared completely.
