We all know the “wilderness experience” as a tough and rough time in which a believer endures discomfort and trials. It is a place of tears, crisis and battle.

The wilderness is an unpleasant place, fleshly speaking. We naturally want prosperity, health, and easy going. But the same God who created the garden also created the wilderness.

There will be times of trial and pressure. Our faith will be tested. But the God of grace will meet us even in the wilderness.

The good news is you will make it through to the other side – if you faint not, I must add.

There are several biblical examples of people enduring a wilderness experience – others not. The people of Israel, in leaving Egypt, experienced a miraculous deliverance through the Red Sea.

As biblical accounts narrate further, what followed was a journey through the desert. They were tried in an actual wilderness, and they failed the test. As a result, their “wilderness experience” stretched to forty years.

Jesus entered a wilderness season immediately after His baptism. He was tested with many ordeals.

Pathways to glory will invariably lead us through the wilderness. Between every promise and the Promised Land of fulfillment will be a wilderness.

But the great promise of grace is always with us, for the Lord will never lead us into a path that He has not already ventured.

He was victorious in His wilderness test, because He placed His hope in God alone and trusted in the living Word of God to sustain Him.

No matter how long, God has not forgotten you and He is more than faithful to all who call upon Him. You will experience the “mountaintop experience.”

The words Paul gives to the Corinthians, God gives to us today as living truth. Never forget how much He loves you and will see you to the other side of every “wilderness” in your life.
