According to the ministry of health, up to 16 women die per day due to birth related conditions. These figures have prompted the leaders of the born again faith in Uganda to join the fight against maternal mortality rate.

They have also pledged to fight against female genital mutilation and HIV/AIDs prevalence in the country.

Presiding apostle of the Born Again Faith Federation in Uganda, Dr Joseph Serwadda has urged pastors to run campaigns in churches where they sensitize Christian faithful and encourage them to go for professional HIV testing.

Every member in the community will be engaged on matters related to HIV treatment, prevention and care services, He noted.

He said this at the offices of the Born Again Faith Federation at Najjanankumbi over the weekend where he concluded a training meeting that had gathered several Born again church pastors.

Dr Serwadda also expressed dismay over the growing habit of fathers abandoning their responsibilities.

‘If you ever decide to to take some body’s daughter as your wife, then you aught to leave responsibly. Don’t abandon her…creating single mother families – we condemn it, hate it and preach against it.’ Dr Serwadda said.
