Dr Serwada awards Lt Col Edith Nakalema for her role in the fight against corruption on 31st December, 2019 at Mandela National Stadium.
Dr Joseph Serwadda on Tuesday mentioned The head of the State House anti-corruption unit Lt Col Edith Nakalema among six (6) individuals that have made a difference and changed Uganda for the better.
Speaking during the 18th Passover Festival at Mandela National Stadium, the presiding apostle of the Born Again Faith stated that Nakalema’s appointment to office was divine.
It is here that the mother of 3 was honored and awarded for her resilience in the fight against corruption.
Handing over the accolade to Nakalema, Dr Joseph Serwadda said: “We did not appoint you into that position, but from what you have done, it was a divine appointment.”
Nakalema, who attended the prayer event with her husband and children, stated in her acceptance speech that she was greatly humbled that her efforts had been recognized.
“We give God the glory for this honor. It is all for the Lord and for us. We could not have deserved this honor if you people of God did not support us,” she said.
Nakalema urged that Church is a key supporter of the Government in the fight against corruption. “I appeal to the Church to support us as we cleanse our country. I pray that 2020 will be a year of everybody’s involvement in the fight against corruption,”she said.
Dr Serwadda also awarded the Nnabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda.
“The Nnabagereka of Buganda started the Ekisaakaate project in 2007. She has done a tremendous job in teaching our young people good morals, good behavior and a way to live. And for that, she receives a highest award for being the person that has educated our people the best way,” he said.
Hannington Agaba, a conservation ranger at Semuliki National Park located in Bundibugyo District was also awarded.
Agaba made headlines in December 2019 when he saved lives of children and women, during the Bundibugyo floods that left properties destroyed and several people devastated. The ranger abandoned his post to help distressed locals.
