Kainos Fellowship founder, Edmond Oduka urges that there is a kind of prayer that causes a man to shift and rise above the circumstances that surround him, “that is prevailing prayer,” he says.
The preacher teaches that when a Christian who persists in prayer enters an atmosphere that is chaotic, everything about that situation will calm down by reason of the presence of God He carries.
Prophet Edmond explains that prayer is effective, not because of any other reason, but because of God who in Christ graciously hears his people.
“When we pray and the glory of God settles upon our lives, we can have dominion everywhere we go. There is a deep dimension of prayer where spiritual people no longer ask for earthly things, they ask and hunger for the very presence of God. In that level of Prayer, God’s glory is revealed to a mortal man,” he teaches. “Immortality impacts the mortal realm. Because the supernatural supersedes the natural, that which is eternal overrules that which is temporal. In this context, the man who has been touched by the eternal that does not pass away will take his place of dominion to preside over natural things. Natural laws cannot hold him captive. By reason of His encounter, He is not a captive of the prevailing circumstances around him. He is walks at the level of Angels that stand before the throne that are given charge over things on earth yet being fully a man.”
Through 2 Kings 2:11 which reveals that “Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven,” Edmond states the popular bible figure was assumed into eternity by a supernatural force that manifested as a whirlwind.
He explains: “There is a level of Prayer that Elijah triggered that caused the supernatural to pursue Him. This man Elijah reached a level where even His words would provoke fire.”
In 2 Kings 1:9-15, God backed up Elijah’s words with power.
“The natural cannot prevail over the supernatural. Elijah pressed so deep into this realm such that the supernatural dimension on Him outweighed the natural realm. What was about Him was now Heavenly. God had to withdraw Him, He had no place among mortals. This man was now operating at a level that would make Angels marvel,” Prophet Edmond says.
“What was Elijah’s secret?
Edmond teaches that the secret was prevailing Prayer.
“To understand this lets look at James 5:17. The bible says —Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently… Child of God, Elijah had a nature like ours. He was human in everyway but, He prayed fervently and He was able to change atmospheres. The depth of this level of prayer was prevailing Prayer. It was not prayer as usual but fervent prayer,” he continues, quoting James 5:16 which says in part, the effective, fervent Prayer of a righteous man avails much.
The preacher maintains that it is not until a believer learns to pray effectively and fervently that he or she will be able to change the atmospheres.
According to him, one of the signs of lack of prevailing prayer is affliction.
“It is my prayer that we engage the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to teach us how to pray. Prevailing Prayer can be learned. May you learn to walk by the counsels of Elohim. May God stir up the depths of Prayer in your Spirit,” he says.
