For over a week now, residents in Masajja (A) Makindye Ssaabagabo in Wakiso district have been gathering at Noah’s Ark Church to ascertain whether there is any development regarding the disappearance of Mrs Miriam Kusubira (46), a pastor’s wife who was kidnapped by unknown men.
Mrs Kusubira, wife to Pastor Kusuubira Shadrack, was kidnapped last week on Wednesday when she left her home to attend to her daily duties in Kampala.
“She left home like any other day, and was escorted by one of the children. She took a taxi, and that was the last we heard from her,” Pastor Kusuubira said.
He told journalists on Saturday that the people who took his wife used her phone to call him in order to confirm the kidnap, and asked for money to release her.
“They asked for 50 million shillings in ransom to set her free,” he said.
The pastor reported the kidnap to that OC Station of Namasuba, Kikajo zone, and residents, including Miriam’s father, Dan Ssebowa are since engaged in searching for the missing person.
“We do not have that much with us. Look at our church. Could we be having that much money and pray from a structure like this?,” Pastor Kusuubira wondered.
Meanwhile, residents have expressed disappointment over security chiefs in the area who they say are not doing enough to cub such crime.
“Our police is on ground and we are doing all we can to ensure that what can be done is done. We will keep updating you on whether she has been found or not,” Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Mr Luke Owoyesigire told journalists.
A side being Pastor at Noah’s Ark Church, and founder of Noah’s Ark educational centres, Pastor Kusuubira Shadrack is also the president and founder of Caleb Ministries which is responsible for taking care of elderly.
He is the senior director of Afrinena children’s voice, a FBO responsible for the needy children. The Pastor has worked hand in hand with Rev. Dr. Eun Yong Lee as Uganda’s overseer of Holistic Missions for all nations. He is on the leadership committee of several pastor’s fraternities in his community and outside.
Pastor Shadrach Kusuubira is a former Anglican Church Priest who was later revolutionized into a vibrant Pentecostal Pastor.
“The same God who delivered Daniel from the paw of the lion will deliver my wife too,” the Pastor said.
Rev Patrick Ssemambo who serves with Pr Shadrach condemned false reports in media during the June 10 Sunday service at the church. He urged social media users not to believe death claims about Miriam.
“We suspect that the Kidnappers are from within our area. She must have been betrayed by the very people close to her,” Chairman LC1 Masajja A, Charles Ssemagonja told media.
DEVELOPMENT:
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire has this morning (Tuesday) confirmed that the Pastor’s wife faked her own kidnap.
Owoyesigire, speaking to the New Vision, said Mariam was arrested in Kikajo, Namasuba about 7pm local time Monday.
She is said to have eloped with another man.
