The Voice of the Martyrs – Mohammad* was a religious leader at his local mosque in Uganda and was sent to join a Muslim movement called “Dawa” that defends and advances Islam.
However, after reading the Bible, The Voice of the Martyrs – USA (VOM), reports that Mohammad decided he wanted to follow the God of the Bible.
“I knew that at any time I could be beheaded. I was scared of that, but I was also trusting … that the Lord would protect me,” he told VOM.
VOM, which is an international nonprofit organization whose mission is to defend the human rights of persecuted Christians says that under the Dawa movement, its members are often told to study the Quran and the Bible and to twist Bible verses to persuade others that Islam is the only true religion.
Mohammad’s decision to follow Jesus prompted Christian leaders in Uganda to send him to discipleship training for 6 months, according to VOM.
After completing the discipleship course, he returned to find a new house that church members had built for him and his family.
He serves as a part-time preacher at his church and teaches believers how to study the Bible: “I know a lot of tricks [the Muslims used to use], but now I can defend the gospel even better.”
Whom will you serve?
Every day when we wake up we are faced with the decision of whom we will serve that day. Every soul is precious to God, and needs to hear the message of hope in Jesus Christ. He paid the ultimate price for you. “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” –Romans 5:8
Jesus Christ, God’s son, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. He loves you so much that He sacrificed Himself for you! He paid the price we could never pay. All you have to do is receive Him as your personal Lord and Savior today.
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” – Romans 10:9-10
“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” – 1 John 5:12
