First lady and minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataaha Museveni on Saturday express confidence in God and his ability to protect Uganda, as she opened up about the COVID-19 pandemic that has globally infected over 184,976 people.

Mrs Museveni stated that God has seen Uganda through several hardships, and will still do the same now that the nation is faced with the COVID-19 ‘storm.’

In her petition, she boldly declared before God, “we acknowledge that it is Your Hand that has continually guided us and Your Presence has always gone before us.”

Here is her Prayer in full:

Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day and for the opportunity that You have given us as Ugandans to come and lift up our nation to You.

“Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” Psalms 90:1‭-‬2 NIV

We thank You for the leadership of the President who has given this Call to Prayer and Fasting, and we thank you for the spiritual fathers and leaders in our country who have answered that Call and are here today to stand in the Gap for our country.

Today as we gather in Your Presence to pray and seek Your Face on behalf of our beloved nation, Uganda, we rely on the ever present help and guidance of the Holy Spirit to help us to pray according to the will and counsel of God.

Father we have come before You today in our national House as we have gathered many times over the years. In this Great House, we gather every year for our national thanksgiving service where we praise You for Your Grace, Protection and Blessing throughout the course of the year.

In this House and in other important venues in our nation like Kololo airstrip, Your people have gathered in the past to bring prayers of repentance, supplication and petitions before You. Jeremiah 33:3 declares,” Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”

Father we can testify that every time we have called on Your Name, You have answered us. We have called on Your Name in times of joy and sorrow, blessing and difficulty, when facing danger and when rejoicing in victory.

By Your Grace You brought Uganda through the dark days of civil war, the war in northern Uganda and insecurity in different parts of our nation. You delivered us from the scourge of HIV/AIDS which threatened to decimate and de-populate our country.

You have more than turned around that curse and brought restoration and today Uganda’s population growth is triple what it was 30 years ago.

You have rescued us time and time again from different diseases such as Ebola and Marburg. Our doctors and medical personnel have been at the forefront of fighting these diseases in Uganda and beyond our borders. Father, we acknowledge that it is Your Hand that has continually guided us and Your Presence has always gone before us.

It is You that has resurrected our economy from the ashes and brought peace and prosperity to our people. You have been a Mighty Fortress and Rock for us to run into in times of trouble. As Psalm 91 declares, You have protected us from danger, pestilence, plagues and calamities. Father, for all Your Goodness and Faithfulness, for Your mercies and unfailing love, we praise, glorify and honor You. You are our God and we have no other, the Great God who is enthroned above the cherubim and seraphim. We honor You and magnify Your Name today.

Lord Your Word says in 2 Chronicles 7:13-14: “ If I shut up the heavens so no rain falls, or if I command locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, If My people who are called by My Name, shall humble themselves, pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land.”

Lord today, Uganda and the world is facing a global pestilence in the corona virus. We have seen city after city in the world come under the siege of this evil stronghold. But our eyes and our hope remain on You and we believe and declare the words of Psalm 124:

“If it had not been for the Lord who was on our side, when men rose against us, Then they would have quickly swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us. Then the waters would have overwhelmed us and swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us. Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth! We are like a bird escaped from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken and we have escaped! Our help is in the Name of the Lord, Who made Heaven and earth.”

Therefore, standing on the absolute authority of Your Word we cry out to You today, our Father and our God and ask for mercy over Uganda. Please forgive us for anything that we have done knowingly or unknowingly that has not been pleasing to You. We repent in ashes today and cry to You for mercy because You are the Hope of our salvation. Please hear our cry today and answer with kindness.

We also bring to you all the children and youth of Uganda and their families whose lives have been disrupted by this situation. We pray that You will calm their fears and bless this time when they are away from school and in their homes. We pray that You will be gracious to them and cause this closure of schools and institutions to be a time of peace. Please ensure that there is no restlessness or idleness in our children and youth. Isaiah 54:13 says,” All our children will be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of our children.”

We thank You for our schools and teachers from the primary level all the way to our universities and tertiary institutions, but ultimately, we look to You to teach our children and grant them the wisdom that comes from You alone.

We commit all the children and youth of Uganda and their families into Your hands and ask for Your mercy and grace over us all.

Jesus we are trusting that You are in the Boat that is our Nation Uganda and because You are with us, You will steer us out of this storm and get us safely to our destination.

Finally, we pray that You will calm and still the hearts of all Ugandans, do not allow, fear and panic to have any room in our lives. OH Lord our God please arise and scatter all the enemies of Uganda today!
In Jesus’ Mighty Name we have prayed,
Amen.
