President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni declared Saturday, March 21, a National Day of Prayer amid the coronavirus pandemic. The President announced this declaration on Friday.

“In addition to the preventive measures being undertaken, national prayers will be held on Saturday, 21st March 2020, to seek the intervention of God in the fight against COVID-19,” a statement from the State House reads.

The development comes just a few days after he stated that “Uganda has been spared from the virus so far by the mercies of God despite the false alarms.”

“We need to pray for the whole country,” he further revealed, during his national address on 18 March 2020.

The prayers will be conducted at the State House, Entebbe, starting 2pm, under the theme: ‘Hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people.’ It was extracted from 2 Chronicles 6:27.
