Church leaders have joined Christians throughout the nation to pay tribute to Pastor George William Kyamuzungu who passed away at the age of 73.
Many thanked the influential preacher for his devotion to sharing the gospel of salvation for over 48 years, and remembered him as a ‘great father to many pastors’ in Uganda.
Pastor George William Kyamuzungu was earlier admitted at Kiruddu General Hospital after suffering a stroke, resulting from high blood pressure, according to Evangelist Mukisa Nicholas Kabogoza.
He passed away on 2nd March, 2020.
Several Born-again Church leaders including the founder and president of Resurrection Power Ministries, Bishop Joel Kakembo Ntambi, Apostle Alex Mitala, Apostle John Bunjo, Pastor David Bweyinda have sent their condolences to Pastor Kyamuzungu’s wife Esther and family.
He was born on 05th January, 1947.
“He is one of the pioneers of the Kiwempe movement in Uganda, a man who stood the test during Amin’s times,” Apostle John Bunjo said.
“Papa Kyamuzungu will always be remembered as a great father to many pastors. So humble and social… May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Apostle Bunjo added.
Gospel musician and Pastor Bweyinda David noted that the late Kyamuzungu was the first pastor to organize a three-day revival meeting for him in Kyebando, Nsooba in 1992.
Apostle Eddie Sempala, author of ‘Uganda God’s Generals: The Pioneers’ said Pastor Kyamuzungu was “outstanding in his generation in Uganda.”
“Many pastors [look at] him as someone who raised them in ministry,” Sempala said.
Evangelist Twaibu Kiwanuka Kalule of Kireka Trinity Church said the late pastored him since 1985.
Dr Joseph Serwadda’s Dream TV Uganda described the late as one of the founding members of Redeemed Churches Uganda.
Pastor George William Kyamuzungu was serving at World Redeemed Evangelism Church located in east Nsooba, which he started with his wife.
Pastor Florence Abeja of Agape Life Center Naalya prayed for God to comfort the family. Others across the globe are also mourning Kyamuzungu’s passing.
A memorial service to honor the deceased will be conducted at the Redeemed of the Lord Evangelical Church – Makerere on 3rd March, 2020.
The deceased will be laid to rest on Wednesday in Kalagala, Mpigi district at 4:00pm
