Born-again Christian leaders in Kampala and beyond, are set to speak at a 6-day prayer conference marked by anointed teaching focused on among other things equipping the body of Christ to make prayer the foundation of all that they do.
Speaking to Journalists on Friday, the event host Dr Michael Kimuli of Christian Discipleship Ministries International, revealed that the 12th annual Prayer Conference will be happening from 9-14th December, 2019 (8AM-8PM) at Kampala Parents School, under the theme, ‘the gates of hell shall not prevail.’
Dr John Mulinde, Bp Dr John Lwere, Bp Dr Livingstone Kiganda, Ap Dr John Bunjo, Pr Micheal Kyazze, Bp Dr Steven Senfuma, Ap Charles Tumwine, Pr Wilson Bugembe, Dr Pr David Kunobwa, Bp Julius Mbagaya, Ap Daniel Batambuze, Pr Samen Maurice, Pr Isaac Senyonjo among others, will speak at the conference.
“This annual prayer conference is bringing Christians and people from different walks of life, not only to seek God but also to pray into a new gate that we are coming into as a nation and as a Church,” Dr Michael Kimuli told media reporters.
“God is calling the nation to pray, and that is the reason we are urging everyone to come and join us,” he added.
According to Dr Kimuli, the Prayer conference is crucial especially now that Uganda is about to enter into “a strategic and critical season” of general elections.
“We all know that the future of Uganda is not only in the hands of politicians and Civil Society [organisations], but also the Church. We need to know that just criticizing the government cannot make any difference. Praying people can change the history of nations. We also know that God is the originator and creator of nations. So, Uganda, we are very grateful that God has positioned us in a place where we can have two harvest and sowing seasons. We also have peace, prosperity and good weather. There is no reason why we should always complain,” he said.
Dr Kimuli noted that aside pray, multitudes who will attend the conference, will be coached and taught.
“The Church plays a very important role in the future of a nation. That is why we always call for a prayer conference at the end of the year,” he explained. “We have discovered that every time we end the year by prayer, and also enter the new season in prayer, the level of crime, accidents goes down. We really need this time, and a platform to pray.”
Speaking out on the Conference theme inspired by Mathew 16, Ap Dr John Bunjo said the Church must take control over all the mountains of influence to be able to influence society.
“If you are coming for this conference, expect that we are going to expose things that are putting the nation down, and also build something that will lift the nation and church,” he said.
“I believe by the end of the conference we will have come up with resolutions and better plans as elders to take our nation to the next level, dethroning every evil gates,” he added.
Musician and Pastor, Wilson Bugembe expressed excitement over the conference and its timely theme.
“When I was younger, I never really cared crossing into the new year [in prayer], until now. I have witnessed people die, accidents taking place as the year ends. Now I know it is more spiritual as we enter into the new gate. Pr Michael Kimuli is one of the people I landed on when I came from the streets. He is my father. He has mentored me, he has Pastored me. He told me how to pray. He is still on fire, as he started many years ago. The prayer conference is 6 days, but it will change your life. We are inviting you for prayer that will break chains, the gates of hell shall not prevail,” he said.
