Changing how we measure success in ministry

My personal testimony about ministerial success.

By Apostle John Bunjo

I got saved 36 years ago. I was born into one of the poorest families in our village. I have gone through hard staff in many aspects. Yes, I had received the Lord however my personal life was still in a poor state, but full of Joy.

In 1985, I started a church in Najjanankumbi. Actually, our church was the first church in Najjanankumbi area on Entebbe road. Those days success in ministry was not measured by the number of people in church or material gain. We were moved by passion to preach the gospel and pleasing God.

It took me many years serving God without tangible outcome, but still pressed on. Little by little the Lord started doing many things in my life up to where am at today.

My journey has been rough but I have laughed at the end of the tunnel. Up to now the Lord has led me to deny myself many treasures at the expense of the gospel. Sometimes, I have been told to give away my rights again for the sake of the gospel, but one thing has not changed, that is my love for Him despite all that I have achieved.

I have suffered, I have gone through all types of tests and I have never traded my love for anything. 5 years ago, I was elected bishop of Kampala in the National Fellowship of Born again Pentecostal Churches of Uganda (NFBPC). However, after two years of my administration, God told me to resign and go back to my humble life, it wasn’t easy but still the love of God was Better than honor.

Dear ministers, we should focus on Jesus than what He has given to us. Today the Lord has raised my profile highly but when I look at the journey I have come from, I cry ABBA father you matter in all.

Avoid quick success and make God your success. I want to assure you that He will get you to the top without struggling.
