Influential Ugandan Pastor and gospel musician Wilson Bugembe has said he made a miraculous recovery from COVID-19.
Speaking during the 15th Annual National Prayer Day at Christianity Focus Centre Church located in Mengo – Kisenyi on Thursday, the lead Pastor of Worship House stated that his recovery was by the power of God through members’ prayers and care of medical workers.
“The strength that I use to stand here and speak today, comes from God,” he told the audience.
Bugembe explained he started experiencing COVID-19 symptoms several weeks before Christmas, and that fighting the infection was one of the most difficult experiences of his life. To prevent cross-infection, the preacher revealed that he went into isolation.
He said: “All the symptom they say a COVID-19 patient should have, I had.”
“I was advised by doctors to stay home, be treated and quarantined there. For 14 days, it has been tough,” Bugembe said, in his subsequent remarks at the Worship House – Nansana.
“I want to say thank you for your prayers. It is a miracle that I am standing here today,” he said. “And to all the doctors and people who have taken care of me, it was good to be loved.”
Bugembe who earlier donated millions to the government of Uganda as contribution towards efforts to combat the spread of the virus glorified God for his recovery, as this pandemic has claimed over 270 in the country and over 1.8 million globally.
He said he was no-longer an infection risk for others. The preacher cited a popular traditional proverb, and later Isaiah 59:19 which reads, “So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”
Through Job 42 where the Lord restored the fortunes of Job after a time of pain and suffering, Bugembe encouraged Christians saying that whatever the pestilence (COVID-19) destroyed in 2020, God will bring double restitution in 2021.
