Apostle Michael Kimuli hands over a tonne of food to gospel musicians represented by the Federation of Gospel Artistes of Uganda President Denis Lanek and others at Kololo on Wednesday
Founder of Christian Discipleship Ministries International (CDMI), Apostle Michael Kimuli has donated one tonne of food to gospel musicians in Uganda amid the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown.
The donation was received by the Federation of Gospel Artistes of Uganda (FGAU) led by its Chairperson Dennis Lanek. This happened on Wednesday at the CDMI offices in Kololo, located within the central bussiness district Kampala.
“He has really done us so well. He donated 750 kilograms of Posho and 250 kilograms of Beans. That is one tonne of food,” Musician Jerome Jeremiah Tusabe, better known as G*Sparks told Uganda Christian News.
He is the in-charge of Youth Affairs on the FGAU committee.
According to him, Apostle Kimuli responded to the call of the Federation in “high gear”, and at a time, several artists have been negatively impacted by the lockdown.
The Federations intends to repackage the food into smaller volumes and distribute it among gospel musicians in the central region while observing the guidelines issued by the government on limiting the spread of the Coronavirus.
“We will have distribution points in different areas of Kampala where artists can come and pick that food,” G*Sparks said.
“We unfortunately may not be able to cover everybody because the ones that registered and need food were over 300. We are trying our level best to get more relief food items. For gospel artists who are far, we have been trying to send them mobile money,” he added.
FGAU brings together artistes and other various stakeholders in the Christian/gospel arts ministry and/or industry; musicians, poets, comedians, actors/actresses, dancers, DJs/VJs, promoters/managers, media personalities, audio/video producers among others.
The Federation’s vision of to be a Christ centered ministry and industry that leads and positively influences the Arts & Entertainment sector.
