Apostle John Bunjo of Christian Restoration Ministries International overcame a childhood of intense health challenges and poverty to become the radical gospel evangelist he is today.
He has long been open about his faith in God and passion for evangelism, routinely showcasing his calm as he navigates the ministry landscape and shares his past challenges and victories.
The outspoken Church leader born to a muslim father, Mr Abdul kyekulidde, got saved 36 years ago at Pastor Simeon Kayiwa’s Namirembe Christian Fellowship located in Kampala District, Central Region, Uganda.
At a tender age, Bunjo was diagnosed with a severe heart complication that left the entire family unease. This complication nevertheless saw no victory following God’s intervention.
“I had a heart problem but the man of God prayed for me and got healed,” he revealed through a facebook post on 18 August.
“My mother Alice left my dad when I was 2 years old so my mum raised me in shear poverty, life was difficult but God’s grace helped us through,” the Apostle added.
Mr Bunjo, who co-founded the Abigail Ministries, an outreach programme for women, together with his wife Sarah Bunjo, started ministry in 1985 – and in 1987 planted a church in Najjanankumbia which is located in the town of Ssabagabo, Uganda.
“In 1993 the Lord led me leave the church I planted in the hands of Paul Musula and James Mwesigwa to join Victory Christian Center Ndebba
“It was not an easy road but again the grace helped me, in 1998, God called me out of Victory Christian Center to start Christian restoration ministries international. The journey has been tough and rough but again the grace of God helped me through.
Where I am now is God and where am going is God too,” the Apostle said.
To Apostle Bunjo, obeying God will not-only take one high but will also keep you flat so that God can always build you up. He believed young ministers, should not rash at great heights before they are prepared otherwise “the weight will break you,” he said.
In May 2018, he announced a campaign aimed at among other things launching out Christians in prayer to awaken the generation lost to what he said is a false spirit sweeping the nation.
He explained that false prophets have made it business to take advantage of innocent souls searching for God, and that they are motivated by the potential profits in the latest church trend. The initiative was backed by Apostle Michael Kimuli from Christian Discipleship Ministries International, Bishop Stephen Senfuma from United Christian Church, Pastor Isaac Kitunka from Glorious church Bunamwaya and Pastor David Kunobwa from U.S.A.
