The COVID-19 pandemic forced schools in Uganda to shut down and some children have since resorted to online classes. Many parents also lost their jobs and others had shifts and salaries slashed, but the responsibility of fending and paying several other bills for their children did not go away.
One gospel musician, Andrea Presson, has made it her mission to help needly single mothers in these trying times.
The wife to influential media personality Mike Presson will hold a concert on 25th July, 2021 and proceeds will go to the single mothers struggling to make ends meet through the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I’m grateful to announce the Glory to Glory concert,” she said in a statement.
“Since last year, I’ve heard this debt but now God has done it…It’s here with cause to support single mothers battling the pandemic with their little ones and your generous giving will do a lot in pushing them through,” the ‘Amazzi go’bulamu’ , ‘Gw’asigadewo’ singer added.
According to an assessment carried out in 2004 by the Single Parents Association of Uganda (SPAU), over 50% of families in Uganda are single parent households. The majority of these households consist of single mothers and their children.
Andrea’s concert is free and it will be streaming live on her official Youtube Channel, and on the Burn Radio app, TV section.
She urged her audience to subscribe to the channel ahead of the virtual event, contribute generously, adding “good things are heading your way.”
Initially resident in the UK, and a preacher’s daughter, Andrea started serious music recording when she was 17-years old, with a desire to awaken youth to an experience with Jesus.
