KAMPALA – Influential Zambian gospel artist, Abel Chungu Musuka is expected to perform at Levixone’s upcoming concert dubbed; Turn the Replay.
The ‘Ichitemwiko’ hit sensational singer is deemed among the finest gospel music acts with an expanding fan base across the continent.
Music is not Chungu’s primary focus but the gospel that flows out of it, according to his recent interview with The Church Newspaper Zambia. Abel was led to the Lord by his mother at the age of four after expressing desire to get saved.
By 2016, he had written songs such as ‘Say Hello To The Bad Guy’, ‘Mulibakulu’, ‘The Overcomers’, ‘Fire Shut Up In My Bones’, ‘The Evangelist and Fathers Child’ and many others.
Apart from music, the 33-year-old is a preacher of God’s word who has spent most of his life in ministry and charity initiatives. He is an ambassador for the Child Care Foundation where they fight for the affairs of children. He is also an ambassador for a Lusaka based orphanage. Chungu is also a high ranking official of the Lusaka Province Zambia Association of Musicians.
Recently, he lamented the manner in which Christians doubt artistes who repent and switch from secular to gospel. He said insinuations that such artistes only convert to gospel because of financial gain are unfair.
“When more people start coming to Christ, they get scrutinized. It is not like people start gospel for the money. It is just the church people who come up with such conclusions. It is not about being a gospel musician but about knowing Jesus, knowing God’s love and changing your life,” he told The Church Newspaper Zambia.
Chungu owns a music band called Life of Honor and is a member of Lotta House Media Company which comprises of among others Mag44, Pompi and Tio.
Levixone’s concert is scheduled for 24th November 2018 at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Lugogo Kampala. Aside Abel, other international acts expected at the event include Chris Erroh, DJ Mo, Alemba, Bahati, Mr Seed and DK Kwenye Beat.
