Dear Pastors/Preachers/Men of God et. al,
May we not conjure up new visions, revelations and proclamations that do more to give our people confidence in the flesh than in the sovereignty of God. May we be found faithful to teaching, exegeting, expounding, explaining what the text of scripture says.
May we be of the firm conviction that our job as ministers to say what God already said in His word. May that conviction undergird every thing we say in our 31st December services/Day of Prayer/Cross Over nights…
May we have the humility to point people to God and not to ourselves, or their “seed” or offering. May we magnify the work of Christ on that bloody cross and its significance, and the power of His resurrection for our politically turbulent times.
May we not shy away from the reality of life’s uncertainty, unpredictability and insecurity. May we prove to our people from the scriptures that the God who made this universe sustains it still by the power of His word. And in Him all of our miseries and ills are woven together into a beautiful tapestry for His glory and for our good.
May we not be afraid to warn His people of the coming judgement of God that will afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. May all those who would flee the coming wrath of God be found in Christ Jesus our Lord. May repentance and sorrow for our sin be the theme of our devotion.
May all the people of God rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice! The Lord Jesus is King! He shall reign!
