The family of beloved Pastor Umar Mulinde of Gospel Life Church International has confirmed his admission to a hospital in Israel after experiencing breathing problems.
In a statement on Thursday, Pastor Mulinde’s mother Joweria Namugga told state-linked news daily the New Vision that her son was admitted at Sheba Medical Centre in Tel Aviv, Israel, and put on a ventilator, for days, to help him breathe easily.
“My son has been battling with breathing problems since he was attacked with acid, which affected his sleeping patterns. Although he is now off the ventilator, his condition is still critical,” she was quoted as saying.
Speaking to the same source, Pastor John Famba who serves at Gospel Life Church International, stated that Mulinde’s breathing complications started July.
“It has been 12 years since he got treatment in Israel for [horrific] acid burns, but last month he developed breathing problems while in Uganda and contacted his Israel doctor,” Pr Famba was quoted as saying.
He said that Mulinde’s doctor advised him after a virtual telemedicine examination to go to Sheba Medical Centre for a review, which he did.
“The treatment services they offer him are not available in Uganda. So, he began as an outpatient, but got hospitalized for a week now and has undergone various surgeries,” Pr Famba said, according to the New Vision.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Pr Umar Mulinde posted a banner which reads:
“The deepest level of worship is praising God through the pain, thanking God through the trials, trusting Him when you are tempted to lose hope, and loving Him, even when He seems distant. At my lowest, God is my hope. At my darkest, God is my light. At my lowest, God is my strength. At my saddest, God is my comforter.”
Prayers have since been pouring in.
