We are living in one of the most unpredictable times in human history. The spirit of death is moving across the world. Some of us have lost friends, relatives and loved ones. In such times, the Church ought to know how to wage war. As a church we should be asking God, what is he telling us?
The Message:
In warfare, certain means of fighting are more effective than others. The Lord told me that while it is important to pray against sickness, it is more effective to empower believers to keep themselves.
I landed on a secret that changed my life many years ago concerning divine health.
Firstly, you must understand that healing has been given to us. In 1 Peter 2:24, the Bible says, “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye WERE healed.”
Despite the fact that you may feel sickness in your body, God does not consider you ill. Some people postpone their healing. They claim that God will heal them, perhaps next week, next month or next year. While the manifestation of healing may sometimes be gradual, healing as a virtue was ALREADY GIVEN to you as a result of the new birth; when Jesus took our place at the cross.
A Strong Spirit:
There is a category of people who know that healing was already given to them by Christ. However, they cannot sustain their healing or fight through an attack of the enemy on their health.
In Proverbs 18:14, the Bible says, “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?” The Hebrew word used for infirmity herein is machăleh which is translated to mean disease or sickness
The amplified version says, “The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?”
The truth is that something as simple as a common flu can kill you if you have a weak spirit .There are people who are too sick in the body to be alive but too strong in the spirit that they cannot die. There are also people who are so strong in the body but too weak in the spirit that they can even die without having fallen sick.
It is not the strength of your body that matters but the strength of your spirit. Any disease, virus or germ can be destroyed [if it dares to get into your body] if you know how to fortify your spirit. On the other hand, anything can kill you if you have a weak or broken spirit. Look at the world today, the same disease that is going through some bodies and causing them to gasp for breath is the very disease going through other bodies without causing even a single symptom.
What breaks the spirit of a man?
There are two things that break the spirit:
1. A perverse tongue
The first is a contrary or perverse tongue. In Proverbs 15.4, the Bible says, “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.” This means that if a tongue knows how to confess good, that tongue has healing power. If you don’t know how to confess right, you are killing your spirit.
In Proverbs 18:21, the Bible says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” The scripture does not say that death has power or that life has power but that death and life ARE IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE. It also says, you shall eat the fruit thereof. Your confession is a seed for a certain fruit. You shall eat the fruit of what you have confessed. Never break your spirit through perverse or negative confession.
2. Anxiety
The second thing that breaks the spirit of a man is anxiety. Some people may know how to confess right but they suffer from anxiety. In Proverbs 12: 25 AMP, the Bible says, “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad.”
How does anxiety come? It comes when you listen and heed to the devil’s words more than you do to God’s words. The devil may bring thoughts in your mind such as “you are a failure, you are going to die, you cannot make it.” Anxiety will come when you listen to these words. How do you deal with anxiety? Listen to the right words. Talk back the truth of the scriptures to the devil. No man who has learnt to answer the devil can be anxious.
The prayer and confessions of the godly
In Psalm 32:6 (AMP), the Bible says,
“For this [forgiveness] let everyone who is godly pray–pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely when the great waters [of trial] overflow, they shall not reach [the spirit in] him.”
The prayer of the godly is that no matter how greatly the waters of trial overflow, they should not reach the spirit in him. So, regardless of what disease is sweeping the world, let it not reach your spirit. It may even reach the body and reach the soul but your prayer should be that it does not reach your spirit.
When you pray this way, there are confessions that follow. Psalm 32:7 says,
“You are a hiding place for me; You, Lord, preserve me from trouble, You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!”
This is spiritual warfare and the only way disease can leave our nation and our families. Let God be true and every man a liar.
