The senior Pastor of Christian Discipleship Ministries International (CDMI), Apostle Michael Kimuli is encouraging Christians to stay away from negativity – in all its forms, and surround themselves with individuals who lift them up.
In an update 5 July, the well-known preacher explained why a negative person isn’t a good choice to turn to most especially when you’re feeling down.
With hope in God’s Word, Apostle Kimuli revealed that a positive person is optimistic, sees the good in life, joy in simple things, and understands that even through the season may be challenging, one is still able to build empowering perspectives.
“Discouraged people are contagious, he said, adding that such individuals pass on discouragement to those they associate with.
“Discouragement is a weapon of destruction that leads people to believe that breakthrough, healing and success are impossible – and sometimes causes failure on countless endeavours,” he said. “Where you find discouragement, you will find fear and worry. The three move simultaneously.”
“Fear not!” is one of the most repeated phrases in the Bible, scholars says. In fact, it’s been said that there are 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible — one “Fear not” for every day of the year.
Apostle Kimuli urged that fear often times propagates negative thoughts – even suicidal thoughts.
He urged that negative and pessimistic people usually team up against those who have a positive attitude.
“Negative people are grave diggers, who dig graves for others before their time. Most of us wage war against ourselves and downgrade ourselves with negative thoughts and confessions. We can’t add anything when we worry. Whenever worry enters a person’s life it brings disorder and changes one’s vision to see and expect only bad things,” he said.
During such times where lives have been disrupted and impacted in unprecedented ways by the measures put in place to address the current covid-19 pandemic, the preacher urged that “boldness, courage and faith should be our attitude.”
“Caleb is described as a man with a different spirit because he brought back a positive report about the land they had gone to spy on (Numbers 13:30). All the negative people didn’t reach the promised land because of constantly expressing negativity,” he said.
“May a positive and expectant attitude be your portion, so that you will scale over high walls and overtake all circumstances around you. And the name of the Lord will be glorified,” he added.
