Imelda Kula Namutebi, the senior pastor of Liberty Worship Centre, Lugala, has delivered her first sermon since her husband passed on nearly three weeks ago. Monday, the pastor discussed evangelism, urging Christians to pursue their God-given purpose in life, and use the time and opportunities accorded to them wisely.
This, she explained, was one of several lessons her husband’s death taught her.
Pastor Namutebi thanked family members, medical workers and close friends who stood by her before and after her husband’s demise.
She urged the congregation not to question God’s faithfulness due to Pastor Thomas Kula’s death, but commit themselves to worshiping Him [God] and giving Him their exclusive devotion. She then quoted John 14:1-2 which reads,
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”
Pastor Thomas Kula, died at 2pm on 17 June, 2021, according to a statement issued by the church that time.
He was remembered as one of the chief founders of Liberty Worship Centre International. A former banker, the 51-year-old helped the ministry establish among others a co-operative society with a vision of promoting financial self-sustenance so that Church members are empowered to meet their family needs.
Namutebi said her husband had prepared well for his transition, and that his legacy and their shared vision will continue.
“In a war, wounded soldiers don’t quit, they get rehabilitated and push forward, they never stay down. It’s time to rise up, size up and seize territories for Jesus. I am back to continue with the work of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Ms Namutebi announced on her official facebook page Tuesday.
