As Christians, we become more of the devil’s target on the daily basis since we are the only ones who oppose and resist his cause on earth. Paul encourages us that while fighting this fight of faith, we should hold firm to eternal life.
“Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12)
There is no day when the devil is not planning evil towards God’s Children, that is why the bible says that we must always be strong in the Lord and in the power of his Mighty.
Sometimes you may wonder why you are facing great opposition, more resistance, hardships and fighting so many endless battles; I believe that the closer we get to God, the more the enemy will fight us on different fronts but, the good news is that our commander who is the author and the finisher of our faith is not only with us always but has also armed us with superior and divine weapons to use in these battles.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not [a]carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10: 4-5.)
The only time we can loose the battle is when our faith weakens or stops growing, then we begin to accept the devil’s lies, and fear creeps into our hearts. The enemy advances like he has always done by painting pictures all over our walls to scare us and to bring questions into our hearts, and then he makes us to accept and honor our feelings rather than the Word of God.
Because our battles are lifetime, I want to encourage you to always invest your time in fellowship with other saints of God, studying the bible; prayer and fasting, which will help you, grow stronger and be able to fight a good fight. You may be going through a very tough time now, looks like you are sinking, and more floods are enclosing on you; David made a statement in Psalms 23, “Even though I walk through the shadows of the valley of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me.”
The devil will always bring shadows of different objects in our path to bring fear in our hearts to cause us to retreat, but good fighters can never quit nor retreat, but will always advance at any cost.
The book of Hebrews 12:1 encourages us with the great multitude of witnesses who fought a good fight of faith and won the hardships, resistances and fierce battles of their time: indicating that we can also win the battles of our time.
When you read the book of Hebrews 11:32-35, you see the battles those early believers fought, the great oppositions and resistances they went though not to achieve any thing for themselves but just to keep their faith; they were thrown in fire and they defeated it, they were thrown in dens of starving lions and they defeated them, they escaped the edge of the sword, the weak became strong, became valiant in fighting, drove back and defeated the hired armies against them.
I believe they faced all these battles because they were close to God, which the devil hates so much. What a blessing and an inspiration to be surrounded by such good examples of believers who fought great battles in their lifetime and won.
As we continue with our journey of faith, I want to encourage you to always strengthen yourselves in the Lord, for the battles we are fighting, oppositions and resistances we are facing will never get less, and the enemy will never stop attacking us, and the levels of attacks will always be determined how close we get to God.
Only remember that the Lord is with us not only to empower us but also to fight for us. Whenever the enemy attacks us with different floods, our Lord will always raise a standard in us against them.
Don’t lose heart, you will not be defeated even though in the natural, you look like you are defeated. Don’t believe your feelings and what your eyes are showing you, if you have been down or nearly down, stand up again shake off your dust, resume the fighting and fight a good fight of faith.
