Opposition leader and activist, Dr. Kizza Besigye has questioned a top official from the Ministry of Health (MoH) for publicly posting her negative test result for Coronavirus and subsequently giving credit to God.
According to Dr Besigye, such messages from Ministry of Health (MoH) heads “aren’t helpful.”
“Why should a Minister publish her negative result, thanking God and “surrendering her life”?” Besigye said.
The Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president purported that how the MoH handles COVID-19 negative cases “causes or increases stigma of affected persons.”
The Minister of State for Primary Health Care, Dr Joyce Moriku took to social media on Saturday to share her Covid-19 results as received from the Ministry of Health .
“Dear HON. MORIKU JOYCE KADUCU, results for your COVID-19 test done on 2020-06-01 with ref #A025569 was Negative. Please continue being vigilant,” the message read.
“I thank God for the protection and I surrender my life into His mighty hands. COVID-19 is preventable and curable,” Dr Moriku remarked.
On twitter, one account user who reacted to Besigye’s statement, affronted Dr Joyce Moriku, adding, “why would a trained medical doctor (and mortal person) entrust her life to vanity and bogus invisible hands?”
Other social media users shared words of encouragement with Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu and also additionally thanked God for her protection.
“He is more than able. Stay safe Hon. Moriku Joyce and continue the good work for the nation and your community for God is our strength,” one said.
