At the 2019 Independence Night held 4th October, 2019 at Namboole National Stadium, Prof. Simeon Kayiwa called Pastors to repent of jealousy and envy, vices he said have led to division among born-again Churches in Uganda.
The lead Pastor of Namirembe Fellowship Church and founder of Kayiwa International University said Pastors ought to celebrate each other’s achievements in life and ministry.
“I am praying for all Ugandans preaching the Gospel. What we need to do, most especially at a time like this is to repent of our inappropriate behavior of jealousy. You need to stop it,” Prof. Simeon Kayiwa said in his speech.
“When some pastors see others outshine them, they become jealousy. To me, jealousy means seeing somebody else have what you don’t, and you get angry. From anger, you plan schemes of bringing him down, and yet he has done nothing to you; it is God who has blessed him,” he said.
“Let everyone be happy for the other if he finds a wife to marry, or a car to drive. We should be happy if we see people who would be in bars, taking marijuana come to Namboole for prayers today,” he stated.
The event was hosted by House of Prayer Ministries International lead Pastor, Aloysius Bujjingo. It comes hand in hand with the national Independence Day celebrated on the 9th of October each year.
It is a day to celebrate Uganda’s freedom from British rule which occurred in 1962. For many Churches across the country, this equally signifies freedom from spiritual oppression.
Prof. Kayiwa thanked Pastor Bujjingo for hosting the event, and for using the platform to deliver believers.
“Personally I am grateful to God for lifting Pr Bujjingo from where he was to where he is today,” he said.
