Worship Harvest Church Pastors, Moses Mukisa and his wife Sarah, have addressed honor and shared tips on how married women can win her unsaved husbands to Christ.
On Sunday, the couple married 16 years revealed that there are principles that govern marriage which should not be ignored by the body of Christ.
To start off, Pastor Moses explained that in marriage, husbands should honor their wives through love and support. He added that the two should create a culture of honor because of their reverence to God.
“If you live in a rented house, at some point rent is going to be due. When the rent is due, the land lord is not seeking for your opinion about whether you really love paying rent. When the rent is due, it has to be paid. The bible says, give honor and to whom it is due. Honor is always due to God, parents, leaders, and today most importantly to your spouse. We have to place a certain value on our spouses, and on our relationship with them,” he said.
Pastor Moses Mukisa revealed how the first three years of his marriage to Sarah were mired with hardships because of how much they underrated these principles.
“The first 3 years of our marriage were ‘interesting’, if you understand the word from a Chinese perspective. They were full of pain, crazy pain. My Marriage made me cry. As for my wife, she used to smile a lot back in the days before I married her, but I removed the smile. I have been working at restoring that smile for the last 16 years. We knew about honoring your spouse but were not practicing it. That is how we ended up in that situation,” Pastor Moses explained.
“The smile is back,” the wife, Sarah noted, sparking applause from the congregation.
“Wives should honor their husbands through submission and respect,” Sarah continued.
Sarah said conduct is able to bring one’s spouse to the Lord if he/she is not born-again.
Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives – 1 Peter 3:1
“Even if he is born-again and does not obey the Word, your behavior, your conduct, the way you carry yourself towards him, is able to change him,” she said.
“Submission is so powerful. Your conduct is able to bring your husband, literally from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light,” Sarah noted.
Pastor Moses was quick to note that submission is often misunderstood and perceived carnally.
“When we talk about submission, some times it is perceived as a bad word. It sounds so offensive. It is like telling women who are married to be beneath their husbands in rank or order. But that is not what [the bible] means,” he said.
“People have no clue how powerful submission is. They feel submission is that you are [giving up] your rights and someone else is going to run all over you. But when you think about how the kingdom of God operates, what did Jesus say? ‘If you want to be great, you have to be a servant.’ In
Matthew 20:25 Jesus still said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.'” he added.
Adding, “Submission: if you look at it from a canal perspective, it looks like you are lowering yourself, but it is a pathway to a lot of power. Just like service, that is how you get elevated in the kingdom.”
