To fulfill God’s purpose for your ministry, Pastor Gerald Mwebe of Streams of Life Church in Kampala, Uganda has urged gospel ministers to strongly desire the anointing of the Holy Spirit which he says empowers one to among other things preach effectively, boldly witness to multitudes, and operate in miracle-working power.
Pastor Gerald Mwebe said the Holy Spirit’s anointing can turn a powerless Christian into a power-filled, effective minister.
“The anointing makes you operate not just at the level of your capabilities but way beyond your capabilities. The anointing releases power and authority on your life and people around you will begin to notice even without you telling them anything,” he said.
The pastor said in his sermon series labelled ‘The Anointing’ that the most anointed moments in one’s ministry usually come at a time least expected.
“Most times when you are not prepared for something, you rely more on God than your own understanding, and this releases super natural activity because it is not your mind leading you but God himself,” he said.
“[If] Jesus, being fully God and fully human, had to be anointed before launching out into ministry, how much more you and me. Without the anointing you can never walk into the full manifestation of the ministry that God prepared you to do. You can try in your own strength but still you won’t be as effective,” he said.
Pastor Mwebe explained that one thing that limits the operation of the anointing most times is self dependency.
He noted that relying on one’s own understanding hinders has hindered many from tapping into the realm of the super natural.
“Ministry alone comes with a lot of demands and pressures, so if you think you are going to do it in your own strengthen and wisdom you will burn out,” he cautioned believers.
Adding: “Acknowledging that it is not you working but God, will humble you as a minister and bring you into total surrender and submission to God. This is the place where the anointing will start to flow limitless in your ministry. It all comes from a place of submission and total dependence on God.”
Further still in his sermon, Pr Mwebe spoke against misuse the anointing, and also revealed that the anointing grows by reason of use.
“Don’t sit there, and wait for huge platforms, whenever there is an opportunity to minister, avail yourself and the big doors will open. Let opportunities find you serving,” he said.
“Whatever you desire, you attract, whatever you hunger for, you will be filled with. Desire and hunger for the anointing. God is willing to anoint you and use you for exploits to shake your entire generation and the generations to come,” he concluded.
