Kyadondo East member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi better known as Bobi Wine has said one of the most crucial things that Good Friday teaches him is that “suffering never has the last word.”
April 19th, Christians not only in Uganda, but all across the continent are commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary.
“Today is Good Friday, but Sunday will be Easter – a day of resurrection. Evidence that sadness may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. The forces of evil, however fearsome, cannot last much longer. Therefore we do not lose heart,” Robert Kyagulanyi who doubles as a musician said.
He explained that Jesus was bruised for being righteous, and killed for speaking the truth to the Pharisees and the other leaders of the time.
“As we remember His agony, may we reflect on our own lives and commit to live in the service of others,” Kyagulanyi explained.
In his address to the nation still, MP Kyagulanyi said this year’s Good Friday comes at a time when persecution of political activists in Uganda is at its peak.
Here, Kyagulanyi mentioned Dr. Stella Nyanzi and Sam Mugumya, an opposition figure in the country.
The husband to born-again Christian mom, Barbie Kyagulanyi has gained nationwide fame for using his music to exhort Ugandans to play an active role in fighting corruption and injustice in the country.
Bobi Wine was a leading critic of the NRM’s push to scrap the constitutional upper age limit, set at 75, for presidential candidates.
Before all this, he rallied his support to the slogan ‘people power’, and as media reports show, aims to galvanise and organise it into a movement.
“Police continues to foil FDC activities across the country. Together with colleagues, we continue to face illegal treason charges. To top it up, yesterday the Supreme Court sought to permit the continuation of this state of affairs by sanctioning Museveni’s life presidency project,” Kyagulanyi said.
“Good Friday teaches us to be courageous in the face of intimidation, steadfast in the face of betrayals, and firm in the face of persecution- well knowing that in the end, good will defeat evil,” he concluded .
