Night to Shine, hosted by Watoto Church, is an unforgettable prom night experience centered on God’s love, for Children with special needs in Uganda.
On Friday, February 9, 2018, several youngsters attended the celebration at Watoto Church – Kyengera where every guest was ushered in on a red carpet complete with a warm smile from the hosts and crowd.
Once inside, the children received utmost royal treatment, words of encouragement from various speakers, flowers, corsages and boutonnieres, makeup stations, tiaras, and, of course, dancing!
By the time the event came to a close, each child had a smile that was nothing short of contagious.
The prom simultaneously happens worldwide in partnership with over 45 different churches in 26 USA states and two countries, Uganda and Kenya.
The goal is to celebrate the children with disabilities, to create an atmosphere where they feel accepted, loved and celebrated.
“Tesla is below that age but she was invited and was crowned princess on behalf of other children with special needs. Thanks very much for this wonderful and unforgettable experience,” Nabasumba Joan, who works with The Gem Foundation remarked.
The event was sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, an organisation which believes many families feel the world is like a place that their children don’t fit and so, “the night is all about them being able to bring their kids here and having them fit in for exactly who they are and to celebrate who they are.”
